MEMORANDUM FOR CHAMPIONS 4 CHAMPIONS

SUBJECT:  Thank You for Supporting America’s Army

1.  The U.S. Army Phoenix Recruiting Battalion appreciates the time Champions 4 Champions devoted to positively impact approximately 500 students at Camelback and South Mountain High Schools in Phoenix, AZ on 12-13 February and for access to the Jam Session all week.  Champions 4 Champions gave the U.S. Army valuable visibility and association with sports heroes.   

2.  Through motivational speaking, NBA legends Sam and Wali Jones and “Coach” Charlie Hatcher highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy sense of pride, encouraged students to make wise life decisions, and highlighted the Army as a positive life choice.  Their messages promoted the U.S. Army’s Core Values (loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage) and served as a valuable recruiting tool.

3.  SFC Jacquelyn Smith, Scottsdale Recruiting Station Commander, indicated this was the best event she has ever seen during her recruiting career.  More than 27 leads were obtained from the school appearances and 45 leads from the Jam Session.

4.  In addition, we appreciate Champions 4 Champions communicating with Soldiers via satellite who are deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.  Having our Soldiers meet and interact with the legendary sports figures was a great way to boost their morale and thank them for serving our country.
